More than 8,800 Progress Energy customers in western Fayetteville lost power Thursday night after a snake interrupted power at a substation.
Progress Energy spokeswoman Holly Everitt said the snake was removed and the substation was reset. Power was expected to be restored by midnight.
The outage occurred about 10:18 p.m., according to Progress Energy’s website.
Progress Energy and the Fayetteville Police Department reported the outage affected areas of Fayetteville stretching from Cliffdale Road to Santa Fe Drive and along Skibo and Reilly roads.
