Have you ever wandered why the rest of the world looks at us funny or wandered what they were thinking as they walked past with that blank stare? Well we may have just found out. In this short Friday night special I talk to you about a conversation I had recently with a friend of mine who is not in the reptile community but sees a lot that goes on it it via his dealings with me. You may be surprised.

This isn’t so much a reptile community exclusive. It sounded more like you were describing “people with opinions on the internet.” I’ve never been in an online community that wasn’t majorly composed of people willing to defend said community.
The distance, and even anonymity, that the internet provides inspires a lot of unnecessary gall in people. Here more than anyone else everyone is quick to defend why they always have to be the one who’s right. It’s sad, really.
I know its not only exclusive to the reptile community but the reptile community is under new federal regulations, we are under the spot light and the public perception of us is not the best. We SHOULD be doing all we can to look as good as we can in the public view.
i have to agree with skink on this…. i think its just people in general who are very quick to judge others or to voice their own opinion so aggressively…. really and pardon the language… but people are assholes.. we need to get the word out that no we are not all just the creapy dude with the crazy animals… its time to show them the nerdy side of herp keeping and that intelligence is key to keeping our beloved pets healthy happy and safe….
Absolutely Steve, we need to stop bickering and go show the world that we are normal people and not just a bunch of A-holes. I mean granted half the people would not dare talk face to face the way they talk behind the security of their keyboards but unfortunately the face to face interactions is not what the public at large sees on a regular basis. I think we need to start showing some respect for one another, we don’t have to agree with everyone but we don’t have to publicly trash them ether. I am not saying I am not guilty of publicly trashing someone but my friend I have seen the light. I got the rare chance to hear from a good friend who is standing outside our circle looking in and it was some awesome insight for me.
