United States Costumes seized 60 pounds of Iguana meat at the Texas/Mexico border on Sunday. Iguana is a delicacy in Central America and is though to be a cure for many illness. The meat has an estimated U.S. value of $1,560 and did not have the proper permits to legally be imported to the United States. The meat was seized under a violation of the Lacey Act and the woman transporting it was returned to Mexico. The case was turned over to the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
