So its Monday, vacation is over and I have been typing up some news stories and doing little this and that’s this morning. I just went and got my 2nd cup of coffee for the day, checked my daughters nose, this morning she banged it on the table and got a pretty sweet battle scar, its looking better now. The dog is fed, chickens and birds are fed, mama mouse still has yet to pop. So I get to thinking about stuff and how much I love working from home, just the idea makes me want to strive harder and harder to work from home. I have seen my kids grow up more over the past month than I have over the past several years of working out of the home.
But I digress, as I was pouring my cup of coffee I was thinking of what has been going on and the question came to mind “Is media a viable option?” I start to wander maybe its not going how I would like it to go because there is no market for media, at least not anymore. I look at come of the larger conglomerates and they are making way more than I could ever dream of making so in some markets media is a viable option but I wander if media surrounding reptiles and amphibians is viable?
As I get deeper in the thought of how viable it is I cant help but to think of one of my favorite shows to watch online. Anyone who has watched DRN on YouTube can pick out fairly fast that I am a big fan of Phillip DeFranco. Media for him has worked out very very well but I dont think I can fit half naked women and jokes about nuclear war into the reptile news.
That being said I am left to wander, if I want to make it in the world of reptile and amphibian media what can I do? In a couple of weeks DRN on YouTube will be celebrating its 1 year anniversary and I cant help but wander where I will be if I continue for another year. Will I be in the same place, loving what I do but wishing I made more doing it? Will I finally be doing what I want for a living and loving ever second of life? Its hard to tell. I would be very interested to hear feedback on those questions.
For those who have not yet heard I am going to be cutting the news on YouTube down to once per week. I will be talking about all the big stories for the week and for sure this means the show will be longer than normal. I am going to try to have the show public no later than Friday afternoons to be watched shortly before Urban Jungles Radio airs. It will remain this way until demand grows to necessitate filming for more than just one show per week. The website will continue to be up dated as much as possible throughout the week so you can still come here for your latest in reptile news 7 days per week however there may be delays in the updating depending on what is going on here at the office on any given day. In order to keep DRN alive and growing I am going to have to increasingly do more work outside the office so I just may not be here to put the news out as much as I would like to or have been doing.
Now I have the next couple of hours to work on promoting DRN then after a short business call I will have the rest of the afternoon. Dont get it twisted, I am still working very very hard on making this happen just not so much in the public eye as I have been. Now go click on those adds and show some love for your Daily Reptile and Amphibian News.
