A python that went missing after a car crash in Atascadero, California Saturday has been found safe and sound.
It began when two cars were involved in a rear-end crash.
One of the drivers had to be pulled from his car with broken bones, but before he was taken to the hospital he told officers his pet python was still in his totaled car.
Officers searched for the snake, but could only find the empty bag the python was being transferred in.
They towed the car to an impound lot and warned residents to be on the look-out for the 5-foot-long Ball Python.
Animal Control said the python was not dangerous.
On Monday officers returned to the impound lot to search for the python again, and this time, they found it.
The officer that found the snake used to work at a pet store, and knew about the Ball Python’s tendencies.
When scared, Ball Pythons tend to roll into a ball and hide, and sure enough, the officer found the python rolled up in the dash of the totaled vehicle.
