A visitor to Bays Mountain Park in Kingsport has recovered from a snake bite.
The Kingsport Times-News reported the man was struck by a venomous snake Nov. 12 when he stepped off the Azalea Trail to watch wildlife.
Park manager Ken Childress said the victim was a mountain biker, who called out for help after being bitten and was helped to a parking area, then taken to Holston Valley Medical Center.
Childress said on Monday that the victim recovered from the bite and told officials at the time he thought he had been struck by a timber rattlesnake after stepping over a dead tree.
Childress said rangers went to the area, but were unable to find the snake.
