KANSAS CITY, Kan. — An alligator, measuring 3 feet in length, was dumped on a Kansas City, Kan., street over the weekend.JaBond Warrior told KMBC’s Michele Rooney that he did not believe it when his neighbor told him to come and see what he had found on the side of the road.”He had a shocked look on his face and when he said, ‘It’s an alligator,” I said, ‘Come on, man.’ And he said, ‘For real.’ I was eating and I had to put my plate down. ‘I’m coming down here right now because I’ve got to see this,” Warrior said.Warrior took pictures of the alligator, which was found in a bag near 18th Street and Parkview Avenue.”It was shocking to me, though, because we have had burned-up cars, trash, the occasional bodies sometimes around in here, but an alligator? That took the cake. I was like, ‘Oh no, we’ve had everything dumped on our street now,'” Warrior said.Warrior said he called Animal Control. The reptile is being kept in a kennel, right next to Dottie the dog. The alligator has a light in the kennel to keep warm and raw meat to stay fed. Animal Control officers hope the reptile’s next stop will be a zoo somewhere. But Animal Control officers said it’s not the first alligator they’ve seen.”In my experience, people either move and leave the animals behind, or they get too big and they dump them,” said Capt. Rodney Smith, of Animal Control. The find may not be shocking to the experts, but it was to those who first saw it.”I was talking to myself and I’m like, ‘God is this for real, you know? And it was alive still,” Warrior said.Animal Control said alligators are not allowed as pets in Kansas City, Kan.
