A MUM got a shock to find a lizard in her kitchen after buying a dressing gown.
Michaela Hague had returned to her Stockdale Drive home in Great Sankey after buying herself a dressing gown from Matalan on Monday.
The 35-year-old said: “I came home with my daughter Hope who is 16-months-old. She was pulling the dressing gown out of the bag and was excited about something.”
When Michaela looked to see what the commotion was she discovered a three-inch sandy-coloured lizard.
She managed to get the reptile into a plastic container and contacted the RSPCA, who collected it later that evening.
Michaela said: “My daughter could have eaten it as she’s at the stage were she puts everything to her mouth.
“It was a bit of a shock because it was so unexpected.”
The Warrington Guardian contacted Matalan who said they are investigating the matter.
A spokesman from Matalan said: “This is a very unusual situation and the first time that Matalan has received a complaint like this. In the meantime, we assure all of our customers that we have strict policies in place regarding the transportation and packaging of our products.”
