DALLAS, Nov. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Reptiles, spiders and other creepy-crawly critters are invading the Museum of Nature & Science, but they’re very welcome! The Museum’s popular “Reptile Fest” is now the Discover Reptiles & Other Critters weekend festival, and it’s being held Saturday November 6 through Sunday November 7 at the Museum campus in Fair Park. It includes exhibits and activities for all ages.
Spiders, snakes, toads, bats – all the slithery, squirmy favorites take center stage for hands-on demonstrations and exhibitions. The family-friendly shows include the Unhuggables stage presentation, a unique “wildlife” game show and a peek into a live honeybee hive. After seeing all the critters and shows, arts & crafts areas let kids make their own, take-home versions of the animals they’ve seen.
Guest exhibitors include Wildlife on the Move, who will present three different “critter” shows featuring live animals. Wildlife on the Move is a group of experienced program presenters, dedicated to helping people become more knowledgeable about our natural world.
Both the Dallas Zoo and Fort Worth Zoo will be on hand to present interactive creature features that include animals from around the world. The Heard Museum is bringing live mammals, insects and reptiles. The DFW Turtle & Tortoise Club will show off live specimens – and explain the differences between turtles and tortoises. The DFW Tarantula & Arachnid Group will bring out furry spiders and scorpions.
Discovery Days are family-friendly festivals that run for a full weekend in November, February, June, July and August. Upcoming themes include technology, super powers, dinosaurs and construction. The Discovery Days series is presented by Time Warner Cable. Discover Reptiles & Other Critters is sponsored by Geico.
Discover Reptiles & Other Critters is free for MNS members and included in the price of general exhibit admission for non-members. Regular general exhibit admission is $10 for adults 18-61; $9 for seniors 62+ and students 12-17; $7 for children 2-11; children under 2 are free. The MNS campus is located in Fair Park.
