His photographs have been displayed in both Senator Dorgan’s and Senator Conrad’s offices.
He was even a finalist in the Smithsonian Institutes stamp contest a few years back.
But as reporter Kate Schell explains…it’s something, Noonan resident Jerry Walter, has done for a friend….that has people turning their heads now.
Finding a good home for a friend’s pet turtle is what’s prompted Jerry Walters’ journey to California. His son owns a reptile store there and he thought it would be the best place for “Spotty”
(Jerry Walter/Photographer) “She was worried what would happen to Spotty, she didn’t want to just give it away. I said Robert is very meticulous about reptiles, if I get it to Robert he will take good care of it, find it a good home.” Trusting Jerry-the friend agreed
The goal then became getting Spotty Reptile Island
(Jerry Walter/Photographer) “So I went and picked Spotty up on Monday and she was crying and I thought, maybe she wouldn’t even let me take the turtle now, she was going to change her mind at the last minute, but she didn’t. So I took it immediately back to Noonan and they were having coffee with the girls there. So I took it to coffee with the girls in Noonan.” That’s when the adventure began
Jerry and Spotty set out for the West coast, but it wasn’t without taking some pictures..
(Jerry Walter/Photographer) “Once I started, I couldn’t quit.” Jerry had quickly combine his love for photography with finding Spotty a new home…keeping his friend in the loop the entire time
(Jerry Walter/Photographer) “I actually kept her updated on the road with my laptop, this is where Spotty is today. So she got email updates all the time with pictures of Spotty doing different things.” The trip ended in Stanton, California. Although Spotty’s adventure didn’t end there….she traveled home with her new owners that very day…..fullfilling a promise Jerry made to his friend. Kate Schell, KX News
Jerry Walter eventually made a photo book with all of his pictures for his friend. The photos became so popular though, he has to make several more copies since
