SUN CITY, Ariz. (AP) – A group of Sun City firefighters are learning how to deal with snakes.
They won’t be snake charmers or snake handlers but they will be taught how to anticipate what a snake may be thinking.
A reptile conservation group is working with nearly 100 Sun City firefighters who respond to snake calls.
Firefighters will handle snakes, some of them venomous, along with other reptiles.
Experts from the Phoenix Herpetological Society will be providing training to the fire department, which serves Sun City, Youngtown, Peoria, and Glendale.
With daytime temperatures in the 80s and higher, snakes are still active, and likely will continue generating calls to local fire departments.
