KANGAR – An 18-month-old toddler who cheated death after being badly bitten by a venomous snake on the head three months ago has been declared permanently disabled.
Mohd Asri Mohd Indrasaudi is now suffering from permanent disability due to a dysfunctional nervous system due to the snake poison.
The boy is now bedridden and unable to swallow food.
His 27-year-old mother, Noor Amali Ahmad, said Asri could only drink milk through a tube.
She is seeking a second opinion from medical experts to cure her son after doctors at Tuanku Fauziah Hospital gave up hope on her child.
Noor Amali said Asri was playing in a room at her mother’s house on May 26 when the incident occurred.
“All of a sudden, I heard him crying and the crying became louder and louder as seconds passed.
“I rushed to him and checked to see what actually happened. To my horror, I saw blood marks on the head and my son was crying even louder. I sought help from the neighbours who then took us to the hospital,” she said at her mother’s house in Kampung Bukit Merah, Beseri, yesterday.
Asri was in coma for about 45 days before regaining consciousness and was discharged two weeks ago.
“I hope my child can live a normal life as he is only 18 months old,” she said.
