Six adults, four children, one cat and a snake were displaced by a second alarm fire in an Oceanside condominium complex at 11:12 a.m. Saturday, Oceanside fire officials said.
No one was injured, they said.
The fire began when a plumber, who was using a torch for work at the complex, accidentally ignited combustible materials inside a downstairs wall that separated two condos, officials said. The fire spread up the wall into the complex’s second level and attic, causing $50,000 in damages.
Thirty-five firefighters from Oceanside, Carlsbad and Vista responded to the fire, and the site was completely cleared by 1:40 p.m., officials said.
The Red Cross provided shelter for the displaced people and pets.
