BROKEN ARROW – A nonprofit animal sanctuary was robbed of exotic snakes and cash sometime Monday night or early Tuesday morning, the owners said.
Safari’s Sanctuary, 26881 E. 58th St., in Broken Arrow, is home to about 250 animals and operates on donations and gate admission. It was founded in 1995 and is staffed entirely by volunteers, according to an e-mail from sanctuary officials.
The snakes that were stolen were donated, and the money stolen from a safe in the admission building was to be used for feeding the animals, owners said.
Anyone who is offered an exotic snake, such as a Brazilian boa or one-eyed albino Burmese python, is asked to call the Wagoner County Sheriff’s department at 485-3124.
