DeSoto, MO (KSDK) — A small alligator is calling the World Bird Sanctuary home after being plucked from a creek Sunday night.
According to the DeSoto Police Department, officers were called to Joachim Creek around 6 p.m. after residents spotted the two-foot reptile.
Police snared the alligator and kept it overnight in a makeshift pool in a city building.
On Monday, the alligator was taken to the World Bird Sanctuary in Valley Park. He will stay there for a few days until he can be transferred to Riverside Reptile Ranch.
Police said the alligator was likely released by someone who had kept it as a pet.
