MEADOW VISTA, Calif. —
News of an angry anaconda on the loose has Meadow Vista residents talking.Posters warning of the lost reptile recently popped up along a neighborhood road. They state the snake will attack and doesn’t like infants, small children or pets — causing more than a few double-takes.The local mail carrier said she’s warned everyone along her route, and one family said it was told to drain their children’s pool for safety. On Thursday, one woman had a close call on a bike ride.”I came around the corner and there was the mother of all snakes stretched across the road,” resident Ann Downey said. “Not an anaconda, but it was pretty large.”But some are wondering, is it real? Or a hoax? The phone number listed on the poster has been disconnected, leading some to think it’s all a big joke. The Department of Fish And Game said it’s legal to keep an Anaconda as a pet in California. In the case this is not a hoax, residents were urged to contact state wildlife officials if they come in contact with the reptile.
