Another one bites the dust!!!!!!!!

Ok so I hate to put it that way, especially since this is another close friend of mine who is hanging up the camera. We have talked a lot over the years about good people leaving the community or the spotlight. Andrew has done amazing things over the years to get these awesome animals in front of people, he has an infectious personality that just draws you in. Over the years he built a YouTube channel called Drew The Entertainer and worked to get it up to 5,827 subscribers, no easy task for sure. According to Social Blade he has achieved 1,083,410 video views from his 251 uploads. His viking helmet will be missed. Being a close friend I spoke with Andrew shortly after his latest video came out announcing his departure at which time he confirmed to me he was done. Further questions on the topic as of this time have gone unanswered.

I have said time and time again over the years that we need to take care of people like this. I know personally how hard it is trying to be successful on YouTube and how depressing it can be to pour your heart into something and watch it crash and burn. If we keep pushing away these people doing good things in our community all we will be left with are the sensationalists “You know who you/they are” Is that what we want to become? Is that what entertains us these days?

A little inside information that I have never told anyone. Not long ago I was on the verge of putting DRN up for sale. I was so depressed, done, unsatisfied with it and just did not want to deal with it anymore. One man pleaded with me to continue, I have one man to thank for making the biggest difference in that decision and Andrew, I thank you for that. I hope there is a chance, even if it’s a small one that I can return the favor, things will not be the same without you brother.

I have been noticing a disturbing trend when it come to reptile news. This is not a new trend but I have seen it develop over the years and wander what can be done to fight back. The problem is, I challenge you to go search for any good news when using the word “Reptile” or even better “Snake” What you will find is ether something bad about the animals or someone who did something stupid enough to get noticed by the law and then the news. The few good things you will find are just texts that have been copy and pasted over the years from someone ells who did all the work to write it years prior. Some might say “As I have in the past” Lets start making our own good news, that unfortunately is easier said than done. First we need to do something good which I am not saying we dont, millions of good things each year are done in our community, the issue is how do we know about it? There is little sharing of information and far to many rivalry’s in our community for this to happen. For example no matter how good it is or how cool it was you will not find one breeder saying anything good about the next. This website has made an effort in the past to highlight good people doing good things in the community but I am only one person and can only consume so much content each day so most everything slips right past me. I have pleaded in the past for members of the community to share anything with me that they see that they liked and or thought was good but that has not happened. The struggle to change the perspective of the public on our members seems to be a never ending one protected by a brick wall. I however have not given up, I have no plans to give up but would like to push the importance of dialog being created to fix this as well as other problems within our community. Where do we start?
