Apparently Sea Turtle nesting in S. Florida is at a ten year high. The funny thing I found while looking up info on this was that up people are mostly responsible for the problems they have go figure. Apparently fishing nets, lines and cargo ships cause big problems with the turtles. Also on the list were city lights which was od to me but according to them the lights from the city disorientate the baby turtles and rather than going out to sea they go further inland and end up getting stuck in storm drains or run over.
Could King Cobras be on their way out?
Researchers say that massive deforestation as well as illegal liqor brewing are forcing King Cobras out of their natural habitat and into near by villages. A study conducted by the researchers of the Department of Zoology, University of Kerala, and the Reptile Study Group, Thiruvananthapuram said that out of 26 sightings, nearly all were from bathrooms or yards around a house. They go on to say this is worrisome as King Cobras normally never venture on to property in or near where people live. Not only are the Cobras in danger but people as well as a King Cobra can deliver as much as 600mg of deadly venom with a single bite.

Reptile News: Endangered Crocodiles and Pot Alligator
Endangered Crocs released
We talked a little about the plight of the Philippine Crocodiles being the most endangered in the world. Well they jumped on the conservation bandwagon faster than any country I have ever seen. Today they released 19 Baby Crocodiles into the wild that have been raised in captivity for the last 18 months. Now the trick is to see if they survive. I think many of us all over the world could learn a thing or 2 of the outstanding response to this problem.
